What's up with the Muslims? or Islam?

Most government and media label Islam as a peaceful religion, yet the fanatical muslims are the ones responsible for the vast majority of terrorism of the last twenty-thrity years.

(The only exceptions I can think of are Timothy McVeigh and the anthrax-mailer.)

Where is the outrage of the so-called 'peaceful' muslims?

The Taliban in Afghanistan are shooting girls in schools, threatening to blow up girls schools, refusing to vaccinate children against polio, and are the ones that have killed more muslims than anyone else. They randomly lob artillery and bombs into Isreal. They attack and blow up hotels, embassies and random mosques. Why don't the 'peaceful' muslims do something about it?

Where is CAIR (council on American-islamic relations)? Oh, yeah, they are raising money to fund the terrorism. They should at least make an attempt at showing they are against killing innocent civilians, muslim or not. Believe it or not, their website contains this statement: "Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy and forgiveness that should not be associated with acts of violence against the innocent."

How can the terrorists call themselves muslims if this is what they believe? Where are the imams and ayatollahs? Shouldn't they be speaking out against the murder by their muslim brothers of other muslims, at least?

Can anyone explain this to me?

Do muslims understand that by staying silent against the terrorists, they condone their actions?

Do they understand that when the rest of the world sees daily terroristic activities conducted by muslims, it is hard for us to believe that this religion is one of peace?

Update, 01.06.09:
Newsflash for Hamas and the Palestinians: your rockets and shelling of Isreal is the cause for your current troubles. Stop the shelling and accept peace with Isreal - it's your choice - it's not a difficult choice to make, and it doesn't take a lot of intelligence to realize it. I guess the centuries of marrying within your families has caused your ability to think rationally worthless...

Automakers fail - unions to blame

The unions are doing it again - killing an American industry.

The bailout has failed because the unions are refusing to give wage concessions. They have no one to blame but themselves!

The Republicans in the Senate are protecting the American taxpayer by making the bailout safer for us, but the unions are messing it up. All they need to do is give back some of the ridiculous wages they make to save their jobs, but for some reason they think that NO pay is better than reduced pay.

Are they really that stupid? Have they never paid attention to the industries that have been decimated and exported by stubborn, stupid unions? If they don't give something, they will lose everything, because the automakers will declare bankruptcy - and this will allow their contracts to be voided. Is there one brain, collectively, among them?

Do they care anything about the millions of people that will also be negatively affected by their greed? Is their pride more important than being responsible and caring for their families and communities?

Kudos to the Republican Senators who are standing up to these greedy idiots, in favor of the American taxpayer.

Kudos to Ford, too. Check out this video of an efficient manufacturing plant in Brazil: http://info.detnews.com/video/index.cfm?id=1189
Like the video says, Ford would love to build one here in the US, but the morons of the UAW won't allow it. Keep working to kill the industry in the US, you dumbasses.

Update, 12.26.08: Just how corrupt and morally deficient is the UAW? How about the fact that they own a golf course in MI that has lost $23 million over the last five years? (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,472304,00.html)

Talk about screwing the membership! If I was stupid enough to be in that union, I'd be pissed! How much better could the union serve the membership with $23 million over five years?

This puts the UAW on the same level as AIG - taking taxpayer money (in the auto bail-out) and squandering money in arrogant, wasteful ways...

Hey UAW - is it your goal to totally screw this country and the people???

Chicago demoncrat corruption: alive and well

BHO says he never talked to the crooked Illinois governor about his vacant Senate seat... BHO's aide says he did, but then retracts the statement. BHO says he had very few dealings with the governor and wasn't aware of his activities. Since when do governors and senators not talk???

Resko was involved with the governor AND BHO... but BHO denies he knew anything about their relationship.

BHO's chief of staff worked with the governor... but BHO denies he knew anything about their relationship.

BHO was/is a friend of Bill Ayers, an admitted, unrepentant American terrorist who got off on a technicality, but BHO was not affected by him. "He was a guy in the neighborhood".

BHO sat under the preaching of a man he described as "like an uncle", Rev. Wright, a racist, anti-American spewer of hate. For 20 years, BHO was a member of his church and listened to his 'sermons', yet claims he was not affected and refutes those disgusting opinions.

I don't believe BHO is being honest with the American people. We deserve to have an honest President. It is our right, bought and paid for by the blood of Americans over the last 232 years.

The whole thing stinks and the American people have been lied to and scammed again by the demoncrat political machine - led by those in Chicago - it looks and smells a little like the mafia, but with the protection of politicians covering each others' backs. Not to mention the liberal, left-wing, sold-out media making excuses for them and not reporting the truth.

In this case, I wholeheartedly believe that the use of sodium pentathol or other truth serum is justified on Resko and Blogejevich (or whatever his name is). Sure, the ACLU would scream about rights, but don't the rights of the population outweigh the rights of a few criminals? The American people have a right to know the truth about elected officials!

More about Waste-to-Energy (WtE)

This is an issue that is not so much about politics, but about economic stimulus, pollution reduction, reducing fossil fuel use, energy generation and improving national security.

The US generated over 254 million tons of trash in 2007, but only used about 30 million tons of that fuel to generate power. Theoretically, we could have 7 times as many of these facilities built, or 500 more of them (there are 87 currently in operation). Let's start with 100 plants, or even 50.

There are a few different technologies available: direct burning, high temperature burning, gasification and others. These plants remove toxic, hazardous and biological wastes in addition to Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). By the way - the EPA classifies MSW as a renewable fuel, because the technology exists and is required for these plants to emit only clean exhaust.

Think about how many people would be employed building 100 power plants... how many people would be employed supplying parts and materials... good paying jobs... tens of thousands? more?

So why aren't we building plants now? One reason is the reluctance of people to have a WtE plant in their town, because the early plants created a bad reputation for being smelly and sources of pollution - this is simply not true any more. The plants can be built at current landfill sites - almost no change at all, except perhaps a little more noise.

What are the other benefits? Did you know that recycling is 10% - 20% higher in communities that have WtE plants? Landfills pollute air and groundwater and the air - WtE plants can eliminate this. If we use the fuel we are currently throwing away, we'd reduce the fossil fuels we currently use. The US generates 3% or our electricity from oil and 50% from coal - replace some or all of those fuels and CO2 pollution is reduced (for those of you who believe that global warming theory).

Some plant designs out there include a desalination capability - turning seawater into freshwater - from the waste heat. Our need for potable water is another subject altogether, but one that needs to be addressed - aquifers are being drained faster than they can be replenished - extended droughts, like the one in Australia, can have tremendous negative consequences.

Look at the business side of these plants. They get paid for take the fuel - waste haulers pay them instead of landfills to take their loads (called tipping fees). In the case of high temperature and gas plasma designs, they collect the higher disposal fees associated with hazardous and biological waste. They make steam and electricity, selling steam to local businesses and electricity to the local power company. They recycle throughout the cycle: paper, glass, plastic, metal, ash, chemical compounds, all of which add to the revenue income. Some plants, traditional incinerators anyway, sift thousands of dollars in coins out of the ash every day!

We need to get busy building!
