Here's another solution for the economy...

I'm in Florida. The economy is a wreck here, just like the rest of the country (thanks to the demoncrats). It's too late for a TVA-type project here, we're actually trying to restore the Everglades. So whatever will we do?

How about combining a TVA-type effort with a good idea from a great American, T. Boone Pickens? No, we don't have enough wind... and even though we're The Sunshine State, the cloud cover makes solar power inefficient...

But we do make a lot of trash with 17 million people... we have a large agriculture industry which generates waste... let's make electricity with it! We fill our landfills with trash - why not make electricity with it? We use coal, oil and natural gas to generate a lot of our power - let's replace some of that with some of the fuel we throw away every day.

Power bills would go down, trash collection fees would go down, power plant emissions would go down (yes, the technology exists to make Waste to Energy (WtE) plant emissions clean) and more people would be employed. It's so simple - why don't we do it?? Oh, yeah, it's the enviro- rrists and their bought-and-paid-for demoncrats...

Use the oil for gasoline, use the natural gas for cars, and use the coal to develop clean-coal technology. Oh - we'll have to expand the natural gas fueling stations in the state - 18 of them already existing aren't going to be enough... people can also put fueling stations in their garages, of course.

The jobs! Thousands of people building and operating power plants and transmission lines... building and running natural gas fueling stations... installing natural gas conversions in cars... improvements in agriculture...

Of course, with all those new jobs, the state will be collecting more revenues, so maybe our taxes would even go down (wishful thinking?)
